COVID-19 International Trend Reporting and Statistics

About CMBI's COVID 19 Power BI Sample Model

The report uses data from the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control. The testing data comes from Wikipedia's en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COVID-19_testing page.

The primary motivation for the Power BI model was to understand the COVID 19 reported case growth trends. We include the Testing data to provide context for the reporting data.

Interpreting the COVID 19 statistics

Consider the following points when analysing any COVID 19 reported case data

  • Each country has different testing strategies and ability to collect case data [IMPACT: difficult to compare countries]
  • Many people infected with COVID 19 may have mild or no symtoms and not be counted [IMPACT: under reporting of cases]
  • Analysis reported by the The Economist suggests that deaths are also under reported [IMPACT: under reporting of deaths]
  • Death/Survival rate is difficult to determine because both reported cases and deaths are unreliable
